FRIDAY, MAY 9, UPDATE: Police are encouraging residents to help out with the search for 67-year-old Canadian tourist who has been missing for one week.
William "Bill" Grange went missing after going for a walk last Friday from the Cambridge Beaches Resort. Both of his sons have since flown to the island to scour the island for their father.
Acting Chief Inspector Mark Clarke is now encouraging any and all organizations including churches, social groups, sporting bodies, boy scouts and girl guides to participate in a search effort tomorrow.
Interested community groups are asked to call 247-1776 or e-mail [email protected] today to indicate the approximate size of their group and which section of the island – west, central or east – they can assist with searching. Other volunteers should assemble at Somerset, Hamilton or St. George’s Police Stations for 8am Saturday.
Mr Clarke is also urging residents who have security cameras to check any recorded footage since Saturday, May 3 for images of Mr. Grange.
Any person, said Mr Clarke, who believes that they have footage showing 67 year old William ‘Bill’ Grange should immediately call 295-0011, 717-0282 or e-mail [email protected].
He added, anyone who may have seen or who may have any information on the whereabouts of Mr Grange is urged to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011 immediately.
The search for missing Canadian tourist William Grange continued yesterday as scores more joined the island-wide operation.
The 67-year-old has not been seen since the evening of May 2 at Cambridge Beaches where he was staying with his wife.
But despite the huge search operation that has seen police, Regiment , Customs and Corrections officers join Mr Grange’s family scouring the island, Mr Grange has not been found.
Last night, as more members of Mr Grange’s family prepared to fly to Bermuda and Cambridge Beaches bosses coordinated another evening search, police released details of the scale of the operation.
A spokesperson said: “This morning (Thursday), two police Marine Unit boats with a contingent of family members have begun a boat to boat search of the moored vessels in the Mangrove Bay, Cambridge Beaches Resort area.
“In addition, 30 land based police officers along with several police cadets will conduct further searches in various areas.
“All hospital facilities have been checked without success and officers continue to follow up on all alleged sightings of the missing 67-year-old Canadian visitor island-wide.” Checks have also been made at 17 guesthouses, a host of tourist attractions as well as beaches and bays during the course of the search.
