Nahki Wells signed off for the season with a curtailed appearance in Huddersfield’s 4-1 win at Watford on Saturday.

The striker was withdrawn after half-an-hour because of injury, making way for Danny Ward, who went on to score an excellent hat-trick.

For Wells, it was the end of a hugely-significant year — one that saw him again dominate the goal charts with Bradford in League One before making a club-record move to Championship side Terriers.

After a blistering start, including a goal on his debut, the Bermudian endured a sticky spell as the team struggled badly for wins. But he came through his first test at that level with four goals in seven games, a turnaround he acknowledged was vital.

“Been a good season for me and the last half was very important,” he said on Twitter this week. “Time to rest up now and get ready for next season.”

Wells ended the campaign with 22 goals — 15 for Bradford and seven (in 21 appearances) for Huddersfield Town.

Town finished the season in 17th.
