The Bermuda Organ and Tissue Donor Association has held its first meeting since relaunching this month.
Donor families and recipients gathered at St Andrew’s Church in Hamilton on Saturday evening to learn more about the organization and shared their stories.
Hospital Relations representative at the New England Organ Bank Kerry Harrington-Casey addressed the guests about organ donation and also shared the story about her mother who was a donor.
She said: “It is an honour to work with the people of Bermuda. We are here to honour you. So many of you are donor families and we have recipients and that is what tonight is about — honouring you.”
She said that her main mission was to increase organ donation and awareness.
Experiences
Anyone who has been affected by organ and tissue donation is invited to attend future meetings. Donors, donor families and recipients can meet regularly to share experiences and talk with professionals in the field.

The group is in the process of organizing a Tag Day and Raffle. See the Bermuda Sun next week for more details.
