Bermuda College’s Board of Governors has approved phasing out student tuition discounts as a result of a budget squeeze.
The board approved the college’s budget earlier this week and in doing so, approved a measure that would reduce a 50 per cent student tuition discount to 25 per cent next year.
It will be eliminated completely in 2015.
The Bermuda Sun reporter earlier this week the board was mulling such discount proposals and a college spokeswoman has verified the board has in fact taken such action.
The move comes after the college’s budget was cut by 7 per cent — about $1.3 million. Currently, a full 12-credits worth of courses without the discount costs $1605. With the current student discount, such a course load would cost $1,072.
