It’s splitsville this week for Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband of ten years, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
The couple announced they were separating earlier this week on her Goop website in a joint statement. The announcement caused the site to crash.
The statement, said, in part: “It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate. We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate. We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been.”
The couple also say they are parents first and will continue to co-parent.
This is very interesting to me because I always thought they were a bad match but since they lasted ten years, I figured they were in it for the long haul. It seems strange that they couldn’t make it work.
But I mean, let’s be real, Paltrow is a piece of work, with all of her Goopy-ness, so I’m sure Martin will be happy to be free from her clutches.
Nick Cannon made headlines this week when he decided to go full “white-face” to promote his new album, White People Party Music.
Cannon posted photos on Instagram and said: “It’s official… I’m White!!! #WHITEPEOPLEPARTYMUSIC #Wppm in stores April 1st!!!!!!Dude Go Get It!!!Join The Party!!!! #GoodCredit #DogKissing #BeerPong #FarmersMarkets #FistPumping #CreamCheeseEating #RacialDraft ‘Bro I got drafted!!”
Apparently people are all upset and claiming that he’s being racist since black people get upset when white people don black-face.
I don’t think Cannon is being funny but I don’t think he’s being racist, either. Black-face is racist because its intention was always to demean black people.
It was never a case of white people dressing up and putting on brown paint to pay tribute to blacks or to be funny. Historically, it was insulting and disrespectful, just like Minstrel Shows were.
So while white-face isn’t racist, maybe it’s just not a good idea to dress up as another race even if your intent isn’t to be disrespectful?
