Celeb Watch: Rihanna to be X Factor judge?

Is Rihanna being courted to be a judge on the upcoming season of The X Factor?

According to various UK newspapers, Simon Cowell is trying to lure the Bajan beauty to come across the pond and sit at the judges’ table next him.

The Daily Star claims Rihanna flew into London on Monday and has a secret meeting arranged with Cowell for later this week.

“Cowell believes the 26-year-old beauty would bring an edge to the show.

“Not only is she a global superstar, with record sales of more than 150 million, she constantly hits the headlines with her outrageous outfits and wild lifestyle.

“And that ‘circus’ is exactly what Cowell believes the show needs when it returns.”

Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh are the other two judges.

According to the Evening Standard, Cowell wants Rihanna because of the attention she commands worldwide.

A source told the Daily Star: “Simon and Cheryl have two months to find someone to sit in that chair and they want to get the right person.

“This year is an important one for ‘The X Factor’. Simon can’t be complacent and has to come back with a real A-Team.

“Rihanna would be a shock selection because she is not an obvious choice for a family show — but that’s what he wants.”

Other candidates for the job reportedly include Joss Stone, Ellie Goulding, Mel B and Fergie.

As cool as it would be see Rihanna as a judge in a music competition, I honestly don’t think she has the time for this.

She’s about to join Eminem for the Monster Tour and I’m sure she’s recording an album somewhere since she didn’t drop one last year. Girlfriend is always working!

On the other hand, I feel that Rihanna could use a bit of structure in her life and a gig like this could be very good for her career, her fans and for her.

I don’t know if she would be able to keep things PG-13 since it is a family show, but I feel that she would welcome the challenge.

Whether she takes the job or not, it must be an amazing feeling knowing that you are someone’s top choice for an incredible job. Not to mention, the paycheck would be hefty.
