Hasty Pudding returns with saucy play
It’s just come off a 30-date tour of Cambridge, England plus a number of shows in New York and now it’s coming to Bermuda.
Victorian Secrets is the latest offering from the wacky boys and girls of Hasty Pudding Theatricals — the theatre group formed at the prestigious Harvard University in December 1844.
The student-written and directed production tells the story of ‘Lady of the evening’ Mona Lott who has been found dead at Victorian Secrets — a brothel run by the no-nonsense madam Harriet Upinthere.
Everyone is trying to find out who did it but they are stuck with a dim-witted cop Billy Club mounting the investigation which does not go very far.
The theatre blurb probes: “Is creepy professor Hannibal Lecture innocent, or is he Jekyll-and-Hydeing his crimes? Did crackpot scientist Ella Mental have a hand in the murder, or does she just have a hand preserved in a jar? Will ex-missionary Sharon Secrets spill the beans, or will she just get herself to a nunnery? One thing’s for certain—chimney sweep Colby Inmahlungs needs to get that cough checked out. Slum’s the word in the Hasty Pudding Theatricals’ 166th production!” n
There are performances tonight, tomorrow and Friday night at City Hall at 8pm. Visit www.boxoffice.bm for tickets.
