The Ministry of Home Affairs announced today that it will be hosting an employment orientation session on March 26 and 27 for those interested in working in the cruise line industry.

The public will recall that last year, the Ministry partnered with Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL) to introduce a unique employment opportunity which afforded Bermudians a chance to work on board one of NCL’s ships.

The initiative was a pledge from the 2013 Throne Speech. And as a result of the recruitment drive last year, seven Bermudians secured jobs on board NCL ships. This year, the Ministry is proud to partner with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines (RCCL) to continue its pledge of providing employment opportunities for Bermudians.

Positions available include, but are not limited to:

  • Cooks
  • Bar Servers
  • Bartenders
  • Waiter Servers
  • Stateroom Attendants

Later this month, representatives from RCCL’s Human Resources Office will be on-Island to provide an overview of the jobs available, outline the criteria for prospective applicants, review employment applications and commence the interview process.

The employment briefings take place March 26 & 27 at Pier Six (lower cruise ship terminal) from 10.00 a.m. – 4.00 p.m. both days, with the interview sessions taking place the following day on March 27.

Today the Minister of Home Affairs, Sen. the Hon. Michael Fahy said, “The public will recall that when I originally announced the cruise ship employment initiative in March 2013, I stated at the time that we were actively working with our cruise partners to establish a local employment office liaison relationship with a view to securing employment opportunities across all professions with those cruise companies that service Bermuda. Last year, we partnered with Norwegian Cruise Lines and had some success with seven Bermudians obtaining jobs with the cruise line.

“This year, we are delighted to continue this unique employment opportunity by partnering with RCCL. And I am encouraging any Bermudian who is interested in working in the hospitality industry and who is keen to embark on an adventure of a lifetime, to attend our orientation sessions later this month.”

For more information, interested persons should visit the Department of Workforce Development or visit the following weblinks to view the job descriptions and fill out an online application form:

The Department of Workforce Development encourages those who attend the orientation sessions to bring copies of their resumes, reference letters and to dress appropriately in business attire.
