Nahki Wells turned in a man-of-the-match performance today, assisting on four goals as Huddersfield Town routed cellar-dwelling Barnsley 5-0 in the Sky Bet Championship.
The Bermudian striker looked lively throughout. A Wells goal line cross found Keith Southern, who converted to open the scoring in the 28th minute.
It was a smooth run for the Terriers from there on out. Three minutes later, another Wells cross was tapped in by Danny Ward. The striker wasn’t done. Shortly after halftime, Wells played in Adam Hamill, who made it 3-0.
Wells was once again in the thick of things in the 57th minute, when he wheeled around Barnsley goalkeeper Luke Steele, only to be felled by the keeper in the area. Adam Clayton converted the subsequent penalty. A fifth goal completed the demolition in the 84th. Wells was substituted shortly thereafter, leaving the pitch to a standing ovation.
Huddersfield Town plays Doncaster Rovers away next Saturday.
