Western Counties Champions Southampton Rangers regained their crown at a canter on Saturday, hammering a depleted Willow Cuts side by eight wickets at Southampton Oval.
Rangers bowled out Cuts for just 60, with Derrick Brangman claiming four wickets for six runs off 7.4 overs.
The top scorer for Cuts was Dexter Basden, with a paltry 15.
In reply, Brangman smashed 43 not out as Rangers reached their target in just 14 overs.
In the Logic Premier Division, Somerset put in the performance of the season to upset the previously-unbeaten defending champions St David’s at Somerset Cricket Club. The hosts won by just six runs in a thrilling battle that went down to the last two balls.
Cuts’ weekend got even worse as they went down to Bailey’s Bay, who racked up 276 for eight. Chris Douglas hit a fine century in reply but the total was always just out of reach and Cuts were bowled out for 221. Kyle Hodsoll produced an excellent display with the ball, taking three wickets for 22 off nine overs.
And in the final game in the top flight on Sunday, Rangers destroyed St George’s by 164 runs as the former’s slow-arm duo of Brangman and Vernon Eve shared nine wickets to leave the east enders in a spin.
