Woman's wallet stolen from shopping cart

Around 1:30pm on Wednesday, January 29^th police officers responded to a reported theft at the Marketplace on Church Street in the City of Hamilton. 

It appears that a 43 year old Smith’s parish woman’s wallet was removed from her grocery cart while she was shopping in the store. She appealed for help as the suspect, a 42 year old Devonshire man, attempted to flee the scene on foot.

Staff members pursued the suspected thief, who was promptly arrested in connection with this incident by police officers in the immediate area.

The suspect remains in police custody and a court appearance is anticipated in due course. The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank those members of the public that came to the assistance of the female customer in this matter.
