A young man injured in a horrific car crash that claimed the life of his friend is showing the first signs of recovery.

Bryan Daniel has been in the Intensive Care Unit since the car he and Nikko Robinson-Woodley were driving in careered into a tree on Harrington Sound Road in the early hours of January 3.

Mr Robinson-Woodley, 21, suffered fatal injuries in the accident, while Mr Daniel, 23, was left fighting for his life.

He remained in a critical condition in ICU for around two weeks.

But this week his condition improved from critical to stable, although he still remains in Intensive Care at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Mr Robinson-Woodley’s mother, Kathy, welcomed the improvement in the condition of her son’s good friend.

She said: “I am very happy that Bryan is getting better.

“I always hoped he would get better and get out of the woods.

“I want to wish him a speedy recovery. Nikko and Bryan were good friends and I am pleased there are signs that Bryan is on the road to recovery.”

The devastating car crash occurred at around 12:55am on January 3 on Harrington Sound Road, just east of Paynter’s Road in Hamilton parish.

Mr Robinson-Woodley was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead. Mr Daniel was cut out from the wreckage of the car and taken to the Hospital.
