Hospitality organizations recognized in BHI Moongate Awards

A Call for Entries for the 2nd annual ‘BHI Moongate Awards’ was announced today by The Bermuda Hospitality Institute (BHI). “These awards recognize and promote organizational excellence within the Hospitality industry,” said Karla Lacey, BHI CEO. “With the increased focus and interest on the industry, it’s important to highlight businesses doing great things for their employees and the community.”

There are a total of 13 Moongate Awards across three categories:

• Promoting Careers

• Attracting & Developing People

• Best Employment Practices

“The awards under the three categories are only given should a submission warrant the recognition,” said Ms. Lacey. These include awards for Best People Innovation Award (won by Fairmont Hamilton Princess,2013), the Best Local Management Strategy (won by Fairmont Southampton, 2013) and the Best Student Placement Provider (won by Butterfield & Vallis, 2013). “Each requires an organization to identify their particular issue or challenge, share their goals and quantify the successful outcome.”

Another, the Education Pipeline Award (won by Dolphin Quest, 2013), is for organizations that most successfully demonstrate good links with schools, colleges or universities. It highlights the importance of links between industry and education at every level.

Entries are open to all Hospitality related businesses and organizations in the following sectors:

• Guest Accommodations

• Dining and Food Service

• Activities and Entertainment

• Wholesale Distribution, Business Support, Tour & Transport

Online submission runs from January 15-February 15 and covers the period of January 1-December 30, 2013. Winners will be announced during ‘Hospitality Month’ in April.
