Fathers, not fortunes, make a country great

Fathers, not fortunes, make a country great
Fathers, not fortunes, make a country great

God sanctioned marriage between a man and a woman, and He spoke that out of their covenant union there would proceed blessings for their offspring that are a combination of each parent. Children are genetically equipped with 50 per cent of the mother’s traits and 50 per cent of the father’s traits.

As blessed as Adam and Eve were, their seed would receive a double blessing.

Plan

That was God’s original plan. How sad that even before seed or children were produced, sin entered into the world and hence children are born in sin.

In other words, children now have to deal with sin and its consequences.

Deuteronomy 6

1 Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the Lord your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:

2 That thou mightest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.

3 Hear, therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.

These verses speak to the father entreating him to be sure that he has his life together before he takes the stance of training his children.

Fathers should have a life that follows the commandments, statutes and judgments of God.

Father, before you train your children, you must be trained in the way that you want them to go.

Let’s take a look at the way God established that fathers must go in order that their seed will be blessed.

Fathers must live according to:

1. Commandments. These have been set up in the past. They have come down through oral tradition and written laws.

2. Statutes. That which you see standing in the present. They are current rules and examples that encourage you to live honourably today.

3. Judgments. Choices you make that will determine what your future will look like.

God is amazing; He encourages the fathers to take into consideration the past, present and future because he is about to become a trainer of his own children.

You cannot teach your children to go where you have not gone. Let me emphasize that even if you have never gone there physically or geographically you must have a dream or a vision that your seed will go there.

They must be better, do better and have better than you ever did. That is the mentality of a mature and responsible father.

God lets us know in His Word that fathers have to be in place so that they can be in the place to take their children to the place where they deserve to be.

Deuteronomy 6:7 –– And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Once fathers have fulfilled their job description, then they have acquired the integrity of fatherhood and leadership and can command their children to also walk in obedience and be in line for godly blessings.

What makes a nation great is not its finances but its fathers.

When fathers father with dignity and godly pride, then the nation will be blessed beyond measure.

When fathers are in their rightful place, homes will be made whole and children will feel safe and secure in the present.

Those same children will also have a better outlook concerning their future.

Fathers, follow the pattern of our Heavenly Father and watch the blessings flow.  RESPICE FINEM
