Turning 50 and looking fabulous

Joanna Cranfield is February’s makeover winner and we think she looks glamorous and radiant. Christopher Vee at The Club at Elbow Beach did wonders on her complexion, giving her a sun-kissed look. 

Carina Azevedo of The Cutting Room styled her hair to match the effortless  look. Joanna told The Bermuda Sun that in the year that she is turning 50, she wanted to work on her image and pamper herself.

• Make-up

Joanna had a beautiful, warm tone to her skin and hair colour so I wanted to do a look that complemented that. 

Almost like she was kissed by the sun but in a sexy way! Sticking to my Derma colour Light creme based foundation from Kryolan, I evened out Joanna’s tones and used a  beauty blender afterwards to melt the makeup in for that “second skin” look. Using some of Christian Diors’ treatment setting powder, I finished off the first and most important part of doing makeup, her base.

I wanted the eyes to really stand   out but in a natural way. I achieved that by using neutral eye shadows on the lid to define the eye in a subtle way. I finished with a full set of false lashes and two coats of mascara on top of that. Lining both the top and inner bottom eyes with a matte, waterproof  kohl pencil in Chocolate Brown from Kryolan, completed this sexy night-time look. I used 2 different shades of powder bronzer from Nars on her cheeks for a bit of sculpting and for a glow.

Nars highlighter  creme in Copacabana was added to the tops of cheekbones for that  Hollywood glow.A bright pink blush lightly popped on the apples of  her cheeks gave just the right amount of colour. I finished the look with a bright lip. I lined and filled her lips with MakeUp Forevers’ waterproof lip liner in a bright pink and filled in with a matching lipstick. The result was a look that would work equally well in the   day or night depending on your mood! 

• Hair

Carina Azevedo, stylist at The Cutting Room, layered Joanna’s hair to give it volume and style. 

She applied Paul Mitchell Super Skinny serum to give the hair shine.

She then applied PM mousse for extra body and used a large round brush to give her hair smooth, voluminous curls. 

She finished the look with PM spray.
