The Bermuda Festival of the Performing Arts has no fewer than four organists in this year’s line-up and the celebrated John Scott is next up on the bill.

He was previously organist and director of Music at London’s St Paul’s Cathedral and is currently organist and Director of Music at St Thomas Church in New York. He has been described in The American Organist as having “technical brilliance and solid musicianship making him one of the world’s leading organists. The Times describes his “contrapuntal dexterity and decorative abandon”. The programme will include: Praeludium in A Minor, D Buxtehude; Fantasia Chromatica, JP Sweelinck; Toccata Chromatica (Echoes of Sweelinck), Ad Wammes; Trio Super: Allein Gott in der Hoh sei Ehr, JS Bach; Andante in C and Fantastia in F Minor, WA Mozart; Variations de Concert, J Bonnet; Chanson de Matin, E Elgar; Impromptu, Etoile du Soir and Carillion de Westminster, L Vierne.

In recent years, recital engagements have included venues in the USA, UK, Germany, Holland, Denmark, Switzerland, Italy, South Africa, Slovakia, Australia and New Zealand.

John Scott performs as part of the Bermuda Festival of the Performing Arts this Friday at St John’s Church, Pembroke from 8pm. Tickets are available for $65 (adults) $25 (Students) from bdatix.bm
