An anxious battle between the competition’s two undefeated teams saw PHC beat SCC 5-3 to win the Women’s Futsal League at Warwick Academy Gym on Saturday night.
The game was tense from the start, with both teams thwarted by excellent goalkeeping.
It was goalless at half-time but PHC eventually overpowered their opponents thanks to goals from Jessica Furtado (2), Aaliyah Nolan (2) and Taznae Fubler.
On the scoresheet for SCC were Shauntae Todd, Deshae Darrell and Eva Frazzoni.
Furtado was outstanding for PHC, with Nasay Burgess MVP for SCC.
Meanwhile, Dandy Stars won a 15-goal thriller in a see-saw battle against Footy Force Stars.
Dandy Stars emerged 8-7 winners thanks to goals from Kyla Ramatar (4), Shonte Campbell (2), Cleshaunae Darrell-Virgil, DaZahree Place.
On target for Footy Force were Zara Gibbons (2), Jahziyah Samuels (2), Cheyra Bell, LeiLanni Nesbeth and Jada Samuels.
Shonte Campbell was the pick of the players for Dandy Stars, with Chyra Bell outstanding for Footy Force.
In the night’s final game HPWC hammered six past YMSC, who could muster only three in return.
It was another entertaining encounter that saw both teams initially unable to gain the upper hand.
It was 1-1 at the break but Women’s National Team 11-a-side coach Naquita Robinson showed her younger players there is no substitute for experience, scoring a hat trick to lead HPWC to victory.
Also on target for the winners were Jayda Hill-Steede, Destiny Hill and Keisha Holis, while for YMSC Rachel Smith, Jahdayna Samuel and Kyanne Scott Fisherman were among the goals.
Games continue next week Saturday at 5pm at Warwick Academy Gym.
