There were tears of joy at LF Wade Airport on Sunday morning as a mother was united with the man who received her late daughter's heart.

Charmaigne Laws jumped over the arrivals barrier when she caught sight of José Famania, whose life was saved 12 years ago when he received the heart of Chardré Yawana, who died in a road traffic accident on January 1st, 2002.

"My son is home" cried Laws as she pressed her ear against his chest to hear her daughter's heart beating.

Some 40 friends and family turned out to see the emotional reunion and headed back to an Abbotts Cliff home to celebrate over a cod fish breakfast.
