A variety show raised over $10,000 for the new acute care hospital wing.
The Bermuda Hospitals Board Variety Show was held on March 29 and was organized by staff from the hospitals.
Organizer Beverly Marshall said: “There are so many staff members who are talented entertainers. I thought bringing them together would result in a wonderful evening of real family entertainment. When I mentioned it to a few other staff I discovered they shared my view. So we decided to do it as a fundraiser for the Bermuda Hospitals Charitable Trust.”
From nearly filling Ruth Seaton James Auditorium to the performances on stage, the event was a huge success in many ways. The committee, which started with no funds but plenty of faith, managed to pull together a show filled with dancing, singing, comedy, acting and magic, thanks to some generous sponsors and their hard work.
Organizer Derek Caines added: “From the start we were always hoping to raise at least $10,000. We’re all so proud that we made and surpassed our goal.”
All told BHB has raised just over $47,100 for the Why it Matters campaign.
