PHC beat HPWC 14-2 in a game that saw Jessica Furtado win the Women’s Futsal League’s top scorer award for the season on Saturday.
Furtado scored 10 at the Warwick Academy Gym, while Aaliyah Nolan (3) and Leanne Yates were also on target.
Tensions were high at the start of the game as it was evident that PHC had come out with a plan to help Furtado, who was four goals behind leader Shauntae Todd of SCC, score as many as possible to give her a chance to win the award.
HPWC managed to keep her mostly in check for the first half with PHC leading 4-0. However, in the second-half PHC were unstoppable and Furtado finished the season with an impressive 28.
HPWC’s Asrael Basden and Jayda Hill-Steede both scored one each, with Basden the MVP for HPWC.
In game two, Dandy Stars overcame YMSC 13-3 thanks to 11 goals from Cleshaunay Darrell-Virgil and one each from Kyla Ramatar and Kashintae Fox.
For YMSC, Kyanne Scott-Fishenden, Zekiah Lewis and Satyrah Robinson were on the scoresheet.
There was a 10-goal thriller as Footy Force Stars 5 and SCC could not be separated.
Footy Force Stars’ scorers were Cheyra Bell (2), Zahra Gibbons (2) and K’Shaela Burch-Waldron.
For SCC, Sierra Fisher (2), Dazhja Greaves (2) and Shauntae Todd were on the mark.
Both goalkeepers, Jaeda Smith from Footy and Charmaine Saltus from SCC were outstanding and MVPs for their respective teams.
With the league completed, attention now focuses on next Saturday’s Women’s Futsal Cup Tournament at the Bermuda College Gym starting at 11:30am. Spectators are welcome.
The Bermuda Futsal Federation would like to thank all of the fans, coaches, players and volunteers for making the league successful.
