Bermuda will be playing for third place in the CFU Women’s World Cup qualifying after being knocked out by Haiti 4-0 Friday night.
A very vocal home fans gave the Haitians an added advantage and a chorus of boos greeted the Bermuda team to let them know this was a highly partisan crowd.
Haiti got on the board early when Lebrun Isnada scored in the fourth minute. The Haitians were awarded a corner and the cross found the back of the net. Bermuda settled down after that and played tough defence with Aaliyah Nolan working up front.
Kali Lespere had Bermuda’s first attempt on goal, but it went high.
Nolan has three markers on her at time and her pace helps earn a Haitian defender a yellow card.
Jeudy Sherly gave Haiti a 2-0 advantage in the 62nd minute on a defensive mistake. Louis Batcheba made it 3-0 in the 78th and a penalty in the 79th, made by Isnada left Bermuda with no hope.
Bermuda will play Puerto Rico for third on Sunday, who were hammered by Trinidad and Tobago 4-1.
Bermuda’s team: Micah Pond, Taznae Fubler, K’Sheala Burch-Waldron, Sideya Dill, Nasaj Burgess, Deshae Darrell, Kali Lespere, Zahara Gibbons, Aaliyah Nolan, Eva Frazzoni and Dazhja Greaves.
