Man denies harbouring fugitive

A 26-year-old man today appeared in court today charged with housing a fugitive.

Ryan Spencer of Devonshire pleaded not guilty to harbouring Howard Ascento on September 23 knowing that he was a fugitive from justice.

Mr Ascento fled from Magistrates’ Court on September 6 after he was jailed for ten days for traffic offences.

Mr Spencer will stand trial on October 28 and was granted $5,000 bail with one surety.
