Stuart Lottimore, 59, was jailed for ten days after he admitted punching his wife and breaking her glasses. He has been in custody since July.

A Warwick man who admitted punching his wife and called her a “dumb Jamaican b***h” in court was sentenced to ten days in prison.

Stuart Lottimore, 59 punched his wife, Yvonne Grey-Lottimore and broke her $500 glasses after they got into an argument surrounding his alleged affair on July 9.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner sentenced Lottimore to ten days in prison for the assault and no further penalty for breaking her glasses.

The defendant has been in custody since July 25 and his time was taken into consideration.

Mr Warner said the penalty would also be followed by two years probation with conditions set out in the reports including refraining from drug and alcohol, random drug tests and assessment for anger management.

Lottimore said: “I learned my lesson up in Westgate. That ain’t gonna happen no more.”

At the first hearing in July, the court heard Mrs Grey-Lottimore had finished her job at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital at 3:30pm on July 9 and was waiting for her husband to pick her up.

After calling him several times, she decided to catch the bus 30 minutes later.

While on the bus, Mrs Grey-Lottimore noticed her husband’s car parked in the parking lot of Hunt's in Warwick. She got off the bus and walked towards the car.

As she was walking, the complainant saw a woman get into the passenger seat and her husband get into the drivers seat.

The court heard Mrs Grey-Lottimore went to stop the car and the woman got out of the passenger’s seat and moved to the back of the car.

The victim then got into the front and told her husband to take her home.

Lottimore than began to drive in the opposite direction. He then stopped the car and told his wife to getout.

He then said: “Call the cops. I want them to see me punch you”.

Mrs Grey-Lottimore’s phone then rang and Lottimore knocked it out of her hand.

He said: “Get out b***h. You think you’re in Jamaica. I’m going to punch you”.

Lottimore then made a punching motion twice. He went back to the car, picked up a bottle of beer and poured it on his wife.

He then punched her in the face, breaking her $500 eyeglasses.

The court heard Mrs Grey-Lottimore was “fearful for her safety” and grabbed a pair of scissors in the car and stabbed her husband on the arm he was grabbing her with.

Lottimore let her go and his cousin came to the scene and took Mrs Grey-Lottimore home.

The defendant was arrested and said he punched his wife after she stabbed him.

At that hearing Lottimore said he was trying to prove to his wife that he wasn’t cheating on her by having the woman in the car.

He claimed he planned to take the woman to the house to explain the situation to his wife.

“She took some scissors and stabbed me. She said ‘I know you’re screwing that girl’ so I slapped her and the glasses off her face.

“I’ll take a divorce. Her and I have been together for seven years. It’s no more.”

He continued: “I’m better than this. I’m tired of her. I hope she’s tired of me.

“I have no problem getting another woman.

“We’ll get a divorce. She’ll go her way and I’ll go my way.”

Lottimore then uttered: “Dumb Jamaican b***h”, loud enough for the courtroom to hear.

Lottimore pleaded guilty to assaulting his wife and breaking her eyeglasses.
