Nahki Wells has been named the Sky Bet League One player of the month for August.
The Bradford City striker, 23, received the award after a superb start to the season that saw him net five times and break the club record for scoring in consecutive games.
That led to speculation he could be on his way out of the club in a big-money move in the transfer window. But City have kept hold of their star man and the former Dandy Town player says he is committed to helping the club get a second successive promotion.
He told the Telegraph & Argus: “I’m a contracted Bradford player and I’m enjoying my football. I want the same goal as the club and that’s to get up and play in the Championship as soon as possible.
“That’s what I’m going to do and hopefully come the end of the season we can all have that advantage.”
He added: “I’ve started well but I don’t want to take too many of the plaudits because without the team I wouldn’t be firing like I am.
“I want to thank the lads that have helped me win this — it’s a team award really.”
Bradford take on Brentford at Valley Parade on Saturday.
