A thirsty emu dropped by. That’s normal, right?

A thirsty emu dropped by. That’s normal, right?

Bermudian Chriss Addams, who lives in Western Australia, encountered a thirsty emu. In his own words:

“This fellow walked out of the bush at Monkey Mia [800km north of Perth], two metres in front of me. He did his emu ‘I want something’ pose. There were people all around me but you can not feed them.

I figured he was thirsty — so I got my yellow bucket out and filled it with cool water. The emu was right at my shoulder. I set the bucket down and he was into it straight away. Amazing is the fact they have to sit down to drink. And the way his knees bend forward. Which is why one has to watch out for their disemboweling kicks.”

Mr Addams, who took this photo, is a former General Superintendent at the  Corporation of Hamilton, who also worked as  Chief Engineer at the Mid Ocean Club and at Bermuda Mechanical.
