Mr Dill, aged 30, was gunned down in a “heinous and cowardly” attack outside a house in The Glebe Road, Pembroke, around 10.20pm on Monday night.
Acting Superintendent Nicholas Pedro confirmed that the shooting was thought to be gang-related – and said that the area, as well as other known hot-spots, would be swamped by police, many of them armed, to deter retaliation.
Mr Pedro said: “It’s a precautionary measure we do in all crimes of this nature. Certainly, for the area affected, there are increased patrols and in areas where there is the possibility of retaliation existing patrols will be enhanced.”
Mr Pedro added that Mr Dill left a 25-year-old wife and seven-year-old daughter, as well as a large extended family.
Appealing for witnesses, Mr Pedro said a full-scale murder enquiry involving detectives from the Serious Crimes Unit had been launched and several witnesses had already been interviewed.
He declined to discuss the gang affiliations that may be involved, although The Glebe Road area is known to be the heartland of the 42 gang.
Mr Pedro added that the lone gunman, who was riding a motorcycle, escaped the scene travelling south on The Glebe Road towards the areas of Parsons Road, Friswells Hill and Bishop Spencer Road.

Mr. Dill leaves behind a 7 year old daughter and a 25 year old wife, with other numerous family members to mourn his loss.
Detectives from the Bermuda Police Serious Crime Unit are investigating the matter. All available evidence is being reviewed, and several witnesses have already been interviewed.

The Bermuda Police Service will enhance its regular and armed patrols in this, and other neighbourhoods that are affected.
The nature and method of this heinous crime lends evidence that this is a gang related event. As such, enhanced patrols will also include areas where there is the possibility for retaliation.

The suspect is believed to have acted alone riding a motorcycle, and on leaving the scene of the crime, the suspect turned south on The Glebe Road towards Parsons Road, Friswells Hill, or Bishop Spencer Road - being other possible routes taken after leaving the residence.
