Last Friday’s photo — No answers
Stumped.
That’s what y’all appeared to be with last week’s Back in the Day photo, which showed several of the men working on the conversion of Casemates Barracks into Bermuda’s maximum security prison.
To my surprise, I did not receive one phone call or e-mail with information. I usually receive a wealth of response to this popular feature.
All that we can tell you about the photo is that the man standing fourth from the right is Thomas Pool, who was seconded to Bermuda from the UK for a few years to oversee the conversion.

Quite a collection: Who is this man? And where was this bevy of businesses located? There’s The Empire Club, The Barracuda Jungle Room, The Hofbrau Restaurant and Gigis. What type of food did they serve? What was the Empire Club? If you have any details, e-mail Gary Foster Skelton at [email protected] or call him at 278-1880. *Photo courtesy of Scott Stallard
