Young footballers will learn there’s more to life than the game.
HSBC and Bermuda’s Brazilian Football School will partner with the Whitney Institute, Dellwood, TN Tatem and Sandys Middle School to provide the 4th Annual Football and Life-Skills based programme for 20 youth football players per school.
Cal Blankendal said: “BBFS is pleased to welcome Sandys Middle School into the programme and wishes to express our sincerest appreciation to HSBC Bermuda for their continued support.
This is the fourth year of the programme and every year it has expanded by one school.
He said: “The relationship between HSBC and BBFS is based on one common objective — to provide our youth with both academic and athletic skills sets that will aid them in their future career and life long decisions. The inclusion of life skills has enhanced the programme and offers solutions and information on the daily issues they confront as young teens.”
The programme runs from October 14 through December 2.
Blankendal said the BBFS recognizes that middle school students are at a key stage in their lives and it is important that we reinforce positive lifestyles and healthy decisions in a safe but fun environment.
Training
Each week, the students will receive 45 to 50 minutes of training, followed by 10 to 15 minutes of life-skills.
The programme is open to both male and female students and will conclude with the four schools participating in a mini tournament.
