MAC abuzz thanks to Rihanna collection

Pop diva Rihanna has added gloss and glamour to the makeup industry here in Bermuda and all over the world.

The Bajan beauty launched her limited edition collection with makeup giant MAC online earlier this week and in stores yesterday. 

Every item in the collection has Rihanna’s signature on it, making them possible collector’s items.

The RiRi Hearts MAC Fall Collection is filled with warm, Fall colours in lipsticks, glosses, eye shadows, blushes, bronzer, mascara, eyelashes and more. It has sold out online and was expected to sell out in stores yesterday.

In Bermuda, the MAC store on Front Street held a special preview of the collection on Wednesday night. At the launch event, Terrilyn Cordeiro, makeup artist said there were about 35 makeup enthusiasts there to see the new line.

There was a DJ, canapés and an opportunity to buy makeup.

As of yesterday, most of the collection has sold, excluding the Talk That Talk lipstick, which didn’t ship in time for the launch.

Ms Cordeiro said: “The highlight of the collection is the lipsticks and those are sold out.

“The collection is very beautiful in itself. It’s a good selection.”

Ms Cordeiro said the store was pretty busy with customers coming in right at 9am to buy from the collection.

“We had traffic first thing in the morning. That’s how it works when you have a new collection”, she added.

Asked when she expects Bermudians will have snatched up the entire line, she said: “Hopefully we will be sold out  by Friday (today). We would like to be.

“But in Bermuda, it takes more than a few days. If not, we will have a few items left.”

Ms Cordeiro said the Talk That Talk lipstick, a deep berry vampy colour, is on its way to Bermuda but there is no telling when it will arrive.

She said the dark look and the warmth of the colours in the collection are popular for fall, when women tend to stray from the light and bright colours.

Those who are looking to buy Talk That Talk when it arrives in stores can call MAC and have their name put on a waiting list. The lipstick sells for $22.
