IMPORTANT NOTICE OF PARTICIPATION
The purpose of the meeting is to provide Bermuda residents, businesses and organizations that use copyrighted music in any public forum information on the recent entry of the Performance Rights Society of the UK into the Bermuda market. PRS will require music users to acquire licenses to use music. Broadcasters (all forms including internet), event promoters, hotels, churches, schools, restaurants or any business that plays music for their clients or staff will be subject to PRS levied taxes. PRS has commenced targeting Bermuda businesses however rates have not yet been agreed in the jurisdiction. The BMUG is coordinating a collective response to PRS’ efforts to impose UK rates on Bermuda based businesses.
