Blast too relaxed... our unsung heroes

Blast too relaxed... our unsung heroes

Baltimore Blast had its opening home game against Milwaukee Wave last week — and also celebrated the raising of our championship banner from last season.

The game did not go too well as we lost in front of our home crowd of 8,000 fans.

I could sit here and have every excuse for you but the reality of it all was we just did not get the job done.

We came out too relaxed and made too many errors in the first half and from that point we were chasing the game.

Milwaukee is a very disciplined team and there was no way they were going to allow us back in.

Not only did they beat us at home in front of a large crowd but they shut us out and kept us off the board. We are now off this week, which allows us to get the team back on track and prepare to bounce back with a strong showing in our next game in Milwaukee on December 7.

In this week’s column I want to express how thankful and appreciative I am of what many people have done to help others move forward.

I also want to say thank you to all the people, community groups, businesses, teachers, coaches and families and many others for doing everything in their power to help move our young people towards their success.

There are many people out there that do not get the recognition they deserve for helping others. Well, this column is for you, this is to let you know that you are not forgotten and you have a special heart and passion for what you are doing.

You are true heroes and you should never, ever feel that your hard work is not worthy.

I also want to encourage you, the reader, to take some time out and thank someone for their hard work. Acknowledge someone that has really stepped forward and given everything they could to help someone.

Send them an email, a text, a whatsapp, a tweet or a call and just say ‘thank you’.

Trust me when I tell you, it goes a long way. Even if it is someone you do not know and have seen the time they are putting in, give them a lift today by telling them you appreciate what they are doing and want to say thanks.

Committing time today to help others is not easy, because people have so many responsibilities and things going on.

So to all my dedicated people out there helping others I want to say thank you once again and wish you all the best through all the days of your life.

Keep that great spirit you have and always remember you are a hero and special to many.

Until next time!
