The Corporation of Hamilton has submitted the details of its waterfront and Par-La-Ville Park leases and agreements to Government.

Both Corporations are required under the Municipalities Amendment Act to provide Minister Michael Fahy with details of any sale of land arrangements or lease agreements over 21 years that have been entered into since January 1, 2012.

The new laws came into operation just last month despite strong opposition from Mayor Graeme Outerbridge and his Hamilton team.

And despite launching a legal challenge to the new rules the Corporation of Hamilton has now submitted details of six leases and agreements to the Minister of Home Affairs.

Three of the six agreements relate to the City’s proposed waterfront development arrangement with the Allied Trust and Allied Development Partners Limited for a 262-year lease of the waterfront.

While two of the agreements relate to a ground lease, a development agreement  and an agreement to lease land with Par-La-Ville Hotel and Residences to build a new hotel in Hamilton.

The Corporation of St George’s has not entered into any such agreements within the designated time-scale.
