Big name players Percy Montgomery and Victor Matfield both put in huge performances as the Boks beat a plucky Argentinian side 14-7.
A brace of tries by speedster Henno Menz was enough to see the South Africans over the line.
And their victory was even more remarkable given that they lost two players to the sin bin during a brutally physical encounter.
It's been more than five years since the Boks last claimed the Classic title; but they thoroughly deserved the crown this year.
Their brand of high octane, free flowing rugby had the crowd on the edge of their seats.
But it was perfectly complimented by a disciplined and ferocious defence that withstood a barrage of dangerous Argentinian attacks in the final.
Sweet Victory
For skipper Ryan Strudwick last night's victory was all the sweeter after enduring four Classic campaigns without success.
In accepting the trophy he paid tribute to his team, and praised event organizers for their work.
Meanwhile earlier in the evening it was the Australians who came out on top against the Canadians in the Plate final.
In a high-scoring try-fest of a game the Classic Wallabies notched up 36 points, while the Canadians could only muster 21.
The victory would have been some consolation to the Aussies who were on the wrong end of the upset of tournament when they lost to the US.
Last night's games were a fitting end to another successful and highly enjoyable tournament.
The 2013 competition boasted not only a host of big names but some of the best rugby seen in recent times.
