Long-awaited pub to open in New Year

Hamilton is to get a new restaurant and bar in the New Year when The Dog House opens in Front Street.

After a lengthy wait, the live music venue will open up underneath Café Cairo.

Owner Frank Arnold said: “It’s not finished yet”, but said the pub would open “sometime in the New Year”.

Plans for the venue were first announced in the summer of 2010 but the premises have remained closed since.

The pub and restaurant — on the site of a former clothes shop — will offer a wide variety of beers on tap from around the world.

The menu will feature US-style bistro cuisine while patrons can also enjoy a games room and a disco. Mr Arnold also hopes The Dog House will become a popular live music venue.
