North Village raise $4k for cancer centre
North Village Community Club has officially closed its “Kicks for Cancer” campaign, presenting a cheque of $4,053.55 to the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre.
This was North Village’s fifth consecutive campaign and its most successful, doubling their donation compared to previous years.
During the month of October the North Village premier team wore their signature pink jerseys in an effort to raise awareness for breast cancer. Freisenbruch Meyer Group once again partnered with North Village by donating $100 for every North Village goal scored, which equated to $1,100.
The rest of the funds were raised through pledge forms and the sale of pink t-shirts which were proudly worn by North Village fans of all ages. President Stephen Coddington said in a press release: “The support that we received was overwhelming. It was especially great to see our youth get involved and understand the value of helping others."
He added “A special thanks to Freisenbruch Meyer Group for donating over $1,000 towards the cost of the t-shirts as it had a direct impact on North Village being able to donate even more dollars to this important charity”.
Rhonda Smith-Simmons from Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre said: “It’s because of the generosity of donors such as North Village Community Club and Freisenbruch Meyer Group that we are able to ensure that the women of our country have the proper resources in place to achieve early detection which is so critical.
"Funds raised will support Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre’s charitable outreach initiatives which include our Equal Access Fund, Education and Awareness Programmes and the Bermuda Cancer and Health Scholarship. We are very grateful for their efforts and continued support."
