Alco-analyser machines back in service
The Bermuda Police Service reports that the Alco-analyser machines are now back in operation. Technical problems have been resolved at the Government Laboratory that had halted production of the solution needed to calibrate the Alco-analyser machines. The machines were offline for a period of approximately two weeks.
As reported, the absence of the machines did not prevent the police from reporting drivers for impaired driving offences and using other evidence to support the charges. Several arrests were made while the machines were down, including five arrests over the holiday weekend.
Speaking today the Minister of Public Safety, the Hon. Michael Dunkley, JP, MP, said: “I want to commend the efforts of all involved for getting the Alco-analyser machines back up and running. This was a key focus for us and we’re pleased that the Bermuda Police Service will be able to continue to protect and serve our road users with the help of this vital equipment.”
