Win a dream come true, says goal hero Wells

Nahki Wells became the first Bermudian to score at Wembley as Bradford City defeated Northampton Town 3-0 in the League Two play-off final this morning.
 
Wells, who was named man of the match, produced a scintillating display and was a threat from the first movement. The Cobblers had no answer to the 22-year-old’s movement and pace, and were frankly outclassed.
 
The former Dandy Town man’s strike partner James Hanson opened the scoring after 15 minutes with an excellent looping header and three minutes later Rory McArdle sent his header into the bottom left corner from Nathan Doyle’s cross.
 
Wells’ moment of history arrived in the 28th minute when Gary Thompson headed across the box and the front man reacted quicker than anyone else to confidently turn the ball home before heading off for a Gareth Bale-heart-style celebration.
 
In reality it was game over and there wasn’t even 30 minutes on the clock. It wasn’t until second-half injury time that Northampton Town had their first shot on target.
 
Wells, who ended the season with 26 goals in all competitions, was subbed with seven minutes to go but promotion had already been secured and the final whistle sparked jubilant scenes.

He told Sky Sports: 'It's a dream come true. We worked so hard together. I think we've played the most games in the country, and to come this far and finish it off in this fashion is unbelievable.

"It's a big game and we wanted to come confident, not arrogant. We came and did what we had to do and to win this comfortably is unbelievable."
 
Asked whether the victory means he will stay at Bradford, he said: "Absolutely. When you're doing well you get all the attention but it wouldn't possible without all the players keeping you going.
I'm contracted to Bradford so I will be playing League One next season."
