Work is expected to continue through the night to get Heritage Wharf ready for the Norwegian Breakaway.
Today as the deadline loomed contractors continued to work feverishly to prepare the dock in time for the mega-ship's arrival tomorrow morning.
Severe storms and high winds hampered progress overnight, but contractors were back on site this morning in a last push to get the job done.
The focus of the attention seemed to be the northern dolphin with more than a dozen construction workers on site for most of the afternoon.
A major operation to clear the berth of construction material has also been undertaken in advance of the arrival with workers painting the main terminal building and removing debris.
Forklift truck drivers also joined the effort this afternoon to move portable office cabins.
