This Sunday the Bermuda Karting Club will have some of the moms get behind the wheels of the vehicles and race around the track as a special Mother’s day tribute.

The club will also have a mechanic’s race as its season draws to a close.

The karts will once again join forces with the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club at the Southside Raceway.

There will only be two karting races instead of three, but both will be worth double points.

All the titles are already decided, but the day promises to be full of excitement with the special events.

Scott Barnes won the national titles in both the 125cc Shifter and TAG Classes and he was pleased with last Sunday’s competition. “There were all karts in the Shifter Class and six in the TAG, plus there were eight in the junior karts and five rental karts. It was a good turnout.”

Barnes is looking forward to seeing the moms in the karts and said last year there were about four who were brave enough to zoom around the track.

Last Sunday Stephen Corrado drag-raced in a 125 shifter against Cyril Whitter on a 250cc bike and won two out of three times to bring glory home to the karting association.

Barnes said: “They were thinking they would beat a shifter but we proved them wrong.”
