The Premier league was sewn up way too early for any drama but the ones to watch are the Champions League fight and the relegation battle (as it has been for the past month).
QPR and Reading are mathematically down — with one place left for the lucky winner! A few teams are still in the mix and they play each other this weekend. Six pointers are big business — especially when there’s a 50 million paycheck for safety.
Super Sunday returns so shotgun the remote as Old Trafford and Anfield play host.
Saturday
11am unless stated
West Brom v Wigan
Wigan have had a few consecutive years of digging themselves out of trouble at the right time of year. It will take some finale to Houdini their way out of this one.
Prediction: 1-1
Norwich v Aston Villa
Lambert returns to Carrow Road looking to leapfrog his former club to bring the claret and blue to safety. Off the back of a 6-1 win, the confidence will be high.
Prediction: 1-2
West Ham v Newcastle
The Hammers are safe but the disgruntled Geordies are far from it. Stuck at 17th in the table as they had a bad spell in front of their own fans. Away points?
Prediction: 1-0
Fulham v Reading
The Cottagers are on a terrible run of results but a win will concrete their Premier League status. Reading are down and out — playing for pride now.
Prediction: 1-0
Swansea v Manchester City
A successful season for the Swans as they wrapped up the Cup in style and finish mid-table. But without a win since March… can anyone see an upset?
Prediction: 0-2
Spurs v Southampton
Gareth Bale swept up the PFA awards this week — can he deliver a few goals to help the fight towards a Champions League spot? Will he stay or will he go?
Prediction: 2-1
QPR v Arsenal
1:30pm
Harry’s chuckling at the final whistle last week as Rangers were relegated didn’t go down so well and it’ll probably be worse when Arsenal show up at Loftus Road.
Prediction: 0-2
Sunday
Liverpool v Everton
9:30am
The Merseyside Derby always produces — if it is not goals, it is cards! A shoulder-biting affair awaits. Never mind — the Uruguayan is on his summer holidays already.
Prediction: 2-2
Man United v Chelsea
12pm
Van Persie finished the league in style with a wondergoal hat-trick and a decent return to the old stomping ground. Chelsea could do with all the points for Mourinho’s return to the Champions League!
Prediction: 1-1
Monday
Sunderland v Stoke
The Mackems have been yo-yo’s in the past few weeks. They are sure to be relegated. With the new manager they thumped Newcastle and beat Everton only to be trounced by Villa 6-1. It is anyone’s guess in this one!
Prediction: 1-0
