Dr Tony Evans holds Kingdom conference

Renowned speaker Dr Tony Evans is coming to Bermuda.

United for Change hosts Dr Tony Evans and Dr Lois Evans on Saturday, March 16, for the  ‘Kingdom Man & Woman Conference’, based on Dr Evan’s two bestsellers The Kingdom Agenda and Kingdom Man. 

Tony Evans is known in Bermuda by his daily radio broadcast, The Alternative with Dr Tony Evans, which can also be heard on more than 850 radio outlets throughout the US and in more than 80 countries.  

Dr Evans and his wife will be in Bermuda to address how men and women are to function under God’s rule, regardless of the season in life they are in. Men will be challenged to accept their responsibility under God.

Women will be encouraged to maximize their walk with God for their meaning and purpose in life. 

In light of Bermuda’s present challenges with the gang culture and various social ills, this conference places the responsibility on the church community to be part of the solution rather than complaining for change. 

Dr Tony Evans is one of the country’s most respected leaders in evangelical circles.

As a pastor, teacher, author and speaker, he serves the body of Christ through his unique ability to communicate complex theological truths through simple, yet profound, illustrations.

Tony Evans was the first African-American to graduate with a doctoral degree from Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS).

He served as an associate professor in DTS’ Pastoral Ministries Department in the areas of evangelism and homiletics.

He continues to serve DTS on the Board of Incorporate Members.

Dr Evans holds the rare honour of serving as chaplain for the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks over the last three decades, the longest standing NBA chaplaincy on record.

He is also the former chaplain of the Dallas Cowboys.

Through his local church and national ministry Dr Evans promotes a Kingdom agenda philosophy that teaches God’s comprehensive rule over every sphere of life as demonstrated through the individual, family, church and society. 

This philosophy connects biblical spirituality with social responsibility.

Dr Evans teaches that the church, not the government, is the best social service delivery system as it is closer to the needs of the people, offers the largest potential volunteer force, has facilities for outreach programmes, and provides a moral and spiritual frame of reference for making right choices.

Dr Evans has served as the senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship for more than 36 years, witnessing its growth from 10 people in 1976 to now over 9,700 congregants with 100-plus ministries.

Dr Evans also serves as president of The Urban Alternative, a national ministry that seeks to restore hope and transform lives through the proclamation and the application of the Word of God.

His wife Dr Lois Evans has been employed by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, the Grand Old Gospel Fellowship Ministry, Dallas Federal Savings and Loan, as well as numerous executive management positions with The Urban Alternative since its inception in 1982, including serving as executive vice president from 1989 to 1995.

She currently serves as senior vice president. Dr Evans is also founder of Pastors’ Wives Ministry.

She serves in the office of the Senior Pastor at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church, National Religious Broadcasters Board, Dallas Baptist University Woman’s Auxiliary Board, NRB Television Board, and The Urban Alternative Board of Directors.

In addition, she is a member of Leadership Southwest, sponsored by the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Board of the Christian Management Association.

Also, she served as the 1st president of the Global Pastors’ Wives Network and is the founder of the Pastors’ Wives Ministry and the First Lady Conference.

She was honoured in 1995 with the Good Samaritan Award from Dallas Baptist University, for outstanding Christian service to the community.

In 1996, she received an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Eastern College, and in 2000 she received the Status of Women Award from Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.

She recently received the Woman of the Year in Ministry Award presented by the Women of Influence, Inc.

The conference will take place on Saturday, March 16, at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess with general sessions by Dr Tony and Lois Evans.

There will also be four break-out sessions by local pastors and leaders about current issues related to the family and community.
