Robin Hood kept their survival hopes alive and condemned St George’s to relegation at BAA field last night.

The Digicel Premier League clash was an “all or nothing” match-up between the bottom two sides, who both knew anything less than a win would see them drop into Division One.

The first half saw chances at both ends, Hood’s Antwan Russell having his effort cleared off the line in arguably the closest either side got to breaking the deadlock.

Both teams were nervy with so much at stake but the crucial moment went Hood’s way in the second half when St George’s Mitchell Tucker was adjudged to have handballed in the box.

Russell put his frustration from his earlier miss into the spot-kick, which was struck firmly past the keeper.

The goal saw St George’s sag momentarily but they recovered to pressure the home team well towards the end. However, the Hood defence stood firm and held on for the victory.

Kyle Lightbourne’s team must now beat North Village on Sunday and hope Flanagan’s Onions lose at Somerset Trojans.
