Bermuda opened their ICC Americas Division 1 campaign in fine style with a 127-run hammering of Bahamas in Florida.
Chasing 193 to win in the teams' opening match of the Twenty20 World Cup qualifying event, Bahamas collapsed to 32 for six after 11 overs and were evetually all out for a paltry 65.
The wickets were shared among the Bermudian bowlers with Malachi Jones the pick, taking three for six off his three overs.
Greg Maybury (two for 19 off four), Janeiro Tucker (two for seven off three) and Jacobi Robinson (two for 10 off four) also kept a tight rein on the batsmen.
The strong performance in the field was set up by some excellent work with the bat. After the first-ball dismissal of skipper Stephen Outerbridge caught at point, Bermuda responded strongly through David Hemp and Dion Stovell.
Former skipper Hemp made 66 off 54 balls, while Stovell racked up 71 from 56 balls. Janeiro Tucker then really hammered home Bermuda’s advantage with a scintillating 30 off just eight balls.
Once Bahamas has recovered from this onslaught they set about the chase but were immediately pegged back to 20 for two after five overs and the impressive Bermuda bowling unit did the rest.
Coach Arnold Manders' side take on Suriname tomorrow at 11am Bermuda time.
