That’s because more than a dozen coaches completed an International Tennis Federation programme.
David Lambert, past president of the Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association, introduced the members of the BLTA’s pro registry at the WER Joell Tennis Stadium on Wednesday.
The coaches completed the International Tennis Federation’s Level 1 course.
Lambert said: “We are also working with several of Bermuda’s junior coaches to assist them in taking the course that has been structured by the BLTA.”
Coolridge Place, BLTA president, said he was “very pleased” with how many of the coaches showed interest in and passed the course.
He turned to the coaches and said: “I’m very proud of you all for all the work you’re doing.”
Place added the BLTA will be hosting a Level II coaching course at the Tennis Stadium.
He said: “It will be a regional course and if we don’t have enough locals, we’ll be able to open it up to the rest of the world.
“Most of our coaches are Level 1 now and a Level II course will be the next step for us.
“We think all our coaches are ready and willing. Our coaches’ education is very critical to the education of our players.”
Bermuda will be participating in World Tennis Day on Monday, March 4 at the Tennis Stadium from 6pm to 8pm.
Place said: “We’ll be featuring our young players and we want to just encourage everybody to come out and be a part of it.” n
