A 22-year-old man who was so drunk on Bermuda Day that he couldn’t take care of himself today claimed he no longer drinks alcohol.
Keirron Spencer of Hamilton Parish was arrested at 6:35am on May 24 outside of Casey’s Bar.
Police were called to the report of a man who was drunk and incapable. When they arrived, they told Spencer to stand up.
He tried to speak but his speech was incoherent. Spencer then tried to walk away from the officers but fell down on a random person.
Officers attempted to put him in the police car, but Spencer became aggressive and was sprayed with captor spray after numerous attempts to get him in the car.
Addressing the court, Spencer said: “ I’m sorry for wasting the court’s time with all this nonsense right here.
“Being drunk and disorderly is why I stopped drinking.”
The defendant said he doesn’t go out anymore and stays home with his nana.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner then said: “If you can’t handle it, leave it alone.”
Spencer was given a conditional discharge for 12 months.
