One shop owner is hoping to help the less fortunate by encouraging the community to donate their gently used goods.
Angel Burgess of A2Z Clothing and Accessories in St George’s will be hosting a charity drive on Saturday from 1pm to 4pm.
She is encouraging the community to clean out their closets and donate whatever they can.
“On Saturday, I am asking people to donate gently used women’s, men’s and children’s clothing and shoes, as long as they are in good shape.
“On Sunday, from 1pm to 4pm, I will be offering everything free of charge for anyone who needs it.
“I did it this time of year because people are switching over their clothes from winter to summer.”
Asked if she has a goal, Ms Burgess said: “I really don’t have a target amount, but I will have a strict cut off of 4pm for donations.
‘I don’t want to have too much stuff.”
Asked why she decided to host a charity drive, Ms Burgess said: “I’m just hoping that people donate and hoping that on the Sunday, people come out.
“It's a hard time right now for a lot of Bermudians. Most of us have more than we need.
“We have stuff in our closet that has tags on it on we have worn only once and that could be useful to someone else.”
She continued: “I cleaned out my closet and I said, ‘This is ridiculous’. Shoes I had only worn once and stuff with tags on them.
“I just know that state that a lot of people are in right now.
“I think everyone should be encouraged to give something.”
A2Z is located in the old Upper Crust location in St George’s.
