I start my column today with quotes from both of my grandfathers. One born and raised in Antigua the other born and raised in St Kitts. Both born into the colonial West Indies where the British government provided absolutely zero for the native inhabitants. So whatever one needed was by doing for self while doing for others. 

Over the last 10 or so years we have collectively reduced fatherhood down to “Joe Blow you are the father!!” type Maury Povich moments. A simple DNA test proves whether or not you are going to pay child support or not. 

So really what is the meaning of fatherhood and who are good fathers? 

I won’t waste your time trying to define fatherhood.

I would rather list those who have been Fathers to me 

My many fathers 

Firstly my biological father Thomas Charles Famous. By DNA gave me life and genetic balding. I think I need to learn his “Apple Pie” recipe in case my political and column writing career doesn’t work out. 

My uncles Jimmy Famous and Boo Brown have helped to show me always sacrifice for family and to never back down from doing for our people. 

Most people either call me Famous or Brown because of the way these men have groomed me to be. 

My uncles Lyn Turnbull, Earl, Julian, and Kenneth Fraser have taught me about my Virgin Islands home. 

My Boss John Howarth took me under his wing 20 years ago at BELCO. 

At times I tried his patience yet he never gave up on me. Now he sails the world and always e-mails his “son” so I know where he is. 

Ambrose Hill, Dale Butler and Fred Ingham taught me about true Christianity. 

Yea yea I know I don’t attend church but “train a child in the way he shall be and he will not depart from it.” 

My departed football coaches Charlie Boyles, Johnny Boyles and Bull Swan made me Wolves and Cougars for life.

Eu começo a minha coluna de hoje com qoutes de ambos os meus avós. Um nascido e criado em Antigua outro nascido e criado em São Cristóvão. Ambos nasceram no colonial das Índias Ocidentais, onde o governo britânico desde absolutamente zero para os habitantes nativos. Então, o que se precisava era fazendo para a auto enquanto faz para os outros.

Ao longo dos últimos 10 anos ou mais que têm reduzido coletivamente paternidade para baixo “Joe Blow você é o pai!” escreva momentos Maury Povich. 

Um simples teste de DNA comprova ou não você está indo para pagar pensão alimentícia ou não.

Então, realmente o que é o significado da paternidade e que são bons pais? 

Eu não vou desperdiçar seu tempo tentando definir a paternidade.

Meus muitos padres

Em primeiro lugar o meu pai biológico Thomas Charles Famous. Por DNA me deu a vida e genética Calvície. 

Eu acho que eu preciso aprender a “torta de maçã” receita no caso de minha carreira de escritor político ea coluna não funciona.

Meus tios, Jimmy famosos e Boo Brown, que têm ajudado a mostrar-me sempre sacrificar para a família e para nunca desistir de fazer para o nosso povo. 

A maioria das pessoas quer me chamar Famosos ou Brown por causa da forma como estes homens me preparado para ser. Meus tios Lyn Turnbull, Earl, Julian, e Kenneth Fraser, que me ensinou sobre a minha casa Ilhas Virgens.

Meu chefe John Howarth, que me tomou sob sua asa, há 20 anos no Belco. Às vezes eu tentei a sua paciência mas ele nunca desistiu de mim. Agora ele navega pelo mundo e sempre e-mails seu “filho”, então eu sei onde ele está.

Ambrose Hill, Dale e Fred Butler Ingham que me ensinou sobre o verdadeiro cristianismo. Sim, sim eu sei que não freqüentam a igreja, mas “treinar uma criança no caminho em que deve ser, e ele não se desviará dele.” Meus treinadores de futebol partiram;. Charlie Boyles, Johnny Boyle e Bull Swan lobos e pumas para a vida.
