Bermuda were soundly beaten 6-1 by England C at the National Sports Centre on Tuesday night.

The English representative side, made up of the best under-23 players from the country’s non-league scene, were a class above the home team and ran away with the contest in the second half.

Antoni Sarcevic put England C ahead with a composed finish before Marlon Jackson added a second from the penalty spot.

The impressive John Barry Nusum — a standout presence for Bermuda at the back — pulled one back for manager Andrew Bascome’s side just before half-time after Reggie Lambe had seen his shot parried.

However, the break — and a raft of substitutions from England C — seemed to act as a wake-up call for the away side and the second 45 minutes belonged to striker James Norwood who scored an impressive hat-trick, which included one from the spot.

Luton Town striker Andre Gray was also on the scoresheet as Bermuda failed to stop a flurry of late goals and despite debutant Jonte Smith making way for the fresh legs of Antwan Russell up front, Bermuda couldn’t reduce the arrears.

There was one bright spot for the home fans as Nahki Wells was honoured by Premier Craig Cannonier at half-time for his superb season with Bradford City, which included becoming the first Bermudian to score at Wembley.
