Bermuda's men put in a convincing 3-0 display in the first round of the Natwest Island Games football tournament.
The home team were given a stern test by the physical Greenland side, but ultimately class told.
In a first half of few clear-cut chances it was striker Domico Coddington who latched on to a perfect Zeiko Lewis cross to open his side's account.
Cheered on by the thousands of islanders that descended on the National Stadium Bermuda tried to push home their advantage but were thwarted by the Greenlanders solid and stoic defence.
The home team clung on to their slender advantage until the break and then the game turned on a frenetic opening to the second half.
The red-shirted visitors had their chance to bring the scores level, but hit the post.
Moments later Antwon Russell spurned a golden chance to double his team's lead, skying a one-on-one with the keeper high over the bar.
But Russell quickly made amends by winning a penalty, before calmly stepping up to convert it himself.
Bermuda never looked back after the second goal and the coup de gras was provided by Zeiko Lewis when he sent a delicious chip over the keeper from outside the box.
At 3-0 the home side continued to press home their advantage, but Greenland resisted manfully.
In the end 3-0 seemed a fair reflection of the host's dominance.
And it was a hard earned result that will pave the way for bigger things for the Bermuda team.
