A host of Bermudian musicians are to entertain guests at the Fairmont Southampton Resort as part of the hotel’s Sensational Summer Guest Activities Programme.

Throughout September there will be music from the likes of The Unit, Crown & Anchor and Michael Cacy.

The Sensational Summer Guest Activities Programme provides tours, entertainment, and activities for hotel guests

Managing Director, George Terpilowski, said in a press release: “We are so lucky to have such a talented pool of people in Bermuda, and The Fairmont Southampton is proud to have a platform to showcase a dynamic range of Bermudian artists.”

Here is the hotel’s run down of the entertainment ahead:

Funny, irreverent and spontaneous, ukulele artist Mike Hind performs an eclectic range of songs from classic romance tunes to the catchiest pop numbers. His show is equal parts joyful and melodious comedy, with audience members often dragged in by playful heckling. He recently released an EP, This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things!. Mike Hind debuted at The Fairmont Southampton last summer. Mike Hind performs at Cabana’s Sunset Barbeque on Tuesdays from 6:30pm – 10:00pm, the Ocean Club Terrace Bar’s Happy Hour on Wednesdays from 3pm – 6pm, and The Dock at The Waterlot Fridays and Sundays from 5pm – 10pm

The Unit is a local quintet featuring five of Bermuda’s finest professional musicians: Lionel Edwards on saxophone and vocals, James Richardson on keyboard, Andwele Simons on drums, Rick Hawke on guitar and vocals, and John Lee on bass and vocals.  After winning Best Jazz Band in Bermuda, The Unit represented Bermuda in the 25th Annual Havana Jazz Festival in Cuba in 2009.  Covering all styles of music including rock, reggae, soca, Latin, jazz, blues, pop, and R&B, The Unit performs dynamic covers and original tunes that are also technically and musically innovative. The Unit performs at Jasmine Lounge Friday and Saturday nights from 9pm – 12am.

Crown & Anchor is a multi-genre acoustic band from Bermuda, known for producing a full live sound with minimal instrumentation. The heady blend of reggae, rock, jazz, and pop on the background of the Fairmont Beach sounds like a soundtrack for summer vacation. The Crown & Anchor Trio’s members are Chris Finsness, Oscar Deuss, and Will Tucker. Performing as Crown & Anchor, Chris Finsness and Oscar Deuss team up with guitar and saxophone, respectively. When Will Tucker, the Turtle Hill Golf Club’s Outside Golf Specialist, finishes on the greens on the weekends, he joins to form the trio on the cahon. Crown & Anchor performs at Cabana’s Happy Hour on Thursdays from 3pm– 6pm and at the Ocean Club Terrace Bar on Mondays and Fridays from 3pm– 6pm. The Crown & Anchor Trio performs at the Cabana Sunset Barbeque every Sunday from 6:30pm– 10pm and at the The Dock at The Waterlot Inn Saturdays from 5pm – 10pm

Singer/songwriter/guitaritst Michael Cacy has performed from one end of Bermuda to the other. Michael is Vice-President of the Bermuda Folk Club. His original song, "Carved In Stone", was included on the CD Ride The Wave and his cover of John Lennon's "Crippled Inside" appears on the Lennon/Bermuda. Michael has recorded various original songs on Bermuda themes, and regales audiences with a beautiful blend of Bermudian history. Michael Cacy performs at Cabana every Tuesday from 3pm– 6pm and The Dock at The Waterlot Inn on Thursdays from 5pm – 10pm

Exclusive may be a newly-formed band, but the musicians are anything but inexperienced.  Comprised of Earl Leader on drums, Toni Bari on keyboards, Dennis Francis on bass, and Stephen Atnorton on alternate keyboards, these musicians bring a wealth of musical experience that helps create their lively sound.  Their resumes comprise a literal who’s-who of popular local bands, including: the Joe Wylie Trio, Spirit, Mike Clemens Band, Tom Ray’s Band, Shine Hayward & Friends, The Happening, and many others.  Exclusive encourages musical guests to join in and jam, but play a variety of music, often taking requests from guests.  Exclusive brings their playful, entertaining spirit to the Jasmine Lounge on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday from 9pm– 12am.

The Sensational Summer music line-up runs through September and is available to registered guests at The Fairmont Southampton and The Fairmont Hamilton Princess, as well as local guests.
